Life in Pakistan - A blessing or Nightmare

The title sounds very critical and weird as well. But the thing is that it's true. I am a Pakistani but in current scenario the freaking circumstances are driving me to depression and despair. Any how as Shahzad Roy says that throughout my whole life I have heard that "Pakistan is going through a vulnerable situation". I agree with him. But we never thought deeply what the root causes are of our country's dramatically collapse. I would like to illuminate the minor facts which we all ignore mostly.

In my first post I would like to tell you about a true story of a wedding ceremony. I don't know that should I leak out this stuff but it's been stuck in my mind and freaking me out. Nevertheless, I went to a marriage ceremony (Baraat day). Marriage procession is an auspicious day. It is also known as a union of two families. Everybody was having fun and excited on venue. Unfortunately it became a nightmare for spouse’s families and probably for all the people there. They served us with "One Dish" as the rule is in Punjab along with curd and salad. All of a sudden some policemen came and said this is violation of the rule. (I am not quite sure about the rule) but they lifted up curry cauldron and salad. Apparently, there were no chances to banish from them so the organizer (bride’s father) was entirely helpless and so were the other folks.

But after few days I came to know that policemen just took some meal out of the cauldron and they gave the entire lifted things back to the organizer after 2 or 3 hours. When I heard that I was very frustrated about the lawlessness in Pakistan. If the organizer breached any law then he must have been punished. But the way policemen spoiled the auspicious day of ceremony that was ruthless. When this incident happened my emotions floated with bride father's tears. He was completely devastated.

In the end, I left the ceremony as soon as the police gone together with the food. But just think for a while about the person (bride's Father) who arranged all these things despite of having miserable financial condition. Then I realized once again that we live in a cheap and selfish society where only lawlessness, discrimination and corruption exist. I must say that there is only one law in Pakistan and that is "There is no rule".
